Merritt, president of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, says that in view of the publication of the first quarter’s banking statistics and the remarks, at Cambridge, of the Minister of Finance, there was no occasion for the Auckland Chamber to hesitate in associating itself with the movement to ask for a reduction of bank rates.
