RAIL REVENUE DROPS
HOLIDAY EXCURSIONS Although the trains were crowded during the recent autumn excursions, the revenue from bookings at Auckland has dropped by £1,726 12s Bd. The holiday excursions lasted from May 3 to May 16, and were splendidly patronised. This is the first occasion when excursion fares have prevailed for everyone for the autumn holidays. On previous occasions those privileged were only the school children. For the May 3-May 16 period in 1927 the sum of £14.299 6s 4d was taken in fares and bookings at the Auckland railway station. This year, although perhaps more people travelled, the takings dropped to £12,572 13s Bd.
