DEAD MAN IN HUT

DISCOVERY AT NORTHCOTE REVOLVER BESIDE THE BODY Yesterday afternoon the body of a man, believed to be that of George Theobald Day, of Taumarunui, was found lying in a hut on the Kauri Gully Park, Northcote. There was a service revolver lying beside the body. One empty cartridge was found- in the chamber, and there was a bullet wound in the head. The police were informed of the discovery by W. F. Shelmerdine, aged 12, who called out from a bus that a man was lying dead in the hut. Mr. R. Haines, a Northcote council employee, also went to the hut. Papers found on the body bore the name George Theobald Day. A man of that name had been staying at a city hotel, The police are in communication with Taumarunui to try and establish identity. An inquest will be held.
