Taranaki Oils Firming MINING SHARES WEAK TARANAKI Oils and Hikurang-i Coals register the greatest activity on ’Change at the moment. Both show a strong upward movement.
Banks continue firm with practically no alteration in the marlcet. Commercials of Australia were dealt with this morning outside the call room at 29s 9d. In insurances buyers of South British eased slightly to 59s 9d at the mid-day call. Sellers of Loan and Mercantile Agency ordinaries at £lO9 were not supported this morning. In coals, Hikurangis register a particularly strong tone, moving steadily upwards, and the A preference at 9s fid is the only issue? offered. Other shares in this section are quiet. A firm tone is registered in the miscellaneous section with the principal trend upward. Taranakis provide the greatest activity in this section and, though no further sales are reported,
the market advanced to see buyers offering 9s 8d at mid-day. Mining is particularly weak and depressed, and Moanataiaris, Waihis and Mount Lyells were the only shares sought this morning.
