Badminton Enters Its Second Season
AUCKLAND CLUB’S PROGRESS PROMISING NEW MEMBERS In St. Mary’s Hall, Parnell, on Tuesday, the Auckland Badminton CliUp opened its second session, which promise's to see a still wider develop) - ment of a game growing much in popularity all over the British Empire. The game makes a particular appeal to tennis players, and E. L. Bartleet and Miss Marjorie MacFarlane are among the Auckland club’s prospective new members. Mr. W. E. Langguth is club captain, and Mr. H. R. Bell continues in the presidency. It is likely that a club will be formed this season at Mangere, negotiations having already been carried to a fairly advanced stage. This move has been in- Marjorie macr-ar-itiated by Mr. Eric lane Dart, who will probably, at the Dominon tournament to be held at Na-
pier in September, prove himself to be the most skilful player in the country at the present time. Exhibition games were staged last night before a gathering of interested visitors, and some keen, fast play was witnessed in the following matches: Miss Berry and Miss Hale beat Mrs. Langguth and Miss Harty, 15 —10; McLean and Mrs. Dart beat Kelly and Mrs. Langguth, 15 —9; Dart and Mrs. Dart bent Kelly and McLean, 15—6; Kelly and McLean beat Dart and Langguth, 15—12.
