FLAG FIGHT NOT OVER

UNPLEASANT EPISODES IN SOUTH AFRICA EXTREMISTS NOT IDLE (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian Press Association) Reed. 9.20 a.m. CAPETOWN, Wed. The hoisting of the new flag on May 31, Union Day, is giving occasion for unpleasant episodes in country towns, at which arrangements have been undertaken by local Nationalists, who have invited extreme Nationalists to speak. The Mayors of Paarl and Graaffreinet. refuse to participate. The Governor-General, the Earl of Athlone, will hoist the flag on Parliament Buildings. Ministers will perform the ceremony in Pretoria and other large centres. It is a suspicion that the Union flag will be hoisted on the principal pole, which rouses animosity.
