PUNISHMENT’S OBJECT
“TT has been presumed that the only object of punishment is to reform the offender. That is not so. Another object in inflicting punishment is to provide a deterrent to others.” This was the observtion made by Mr. Justice MacGregor in sentencing a prisoner in the Supreme Court this morning.
