WHEN BUYING ALUMINIUM
BE sure you get the best, or you are simply throwing your money away. And as the best does not always mean the most expensive, here are a few hints to help you. . Any impurities in the metal will cause tarnishing, so avoid any aluminium showing a bluish tinge. It should be silvery white
See, too, that your pans have been pressed from orrts sheet of metal, as at present there is no satisfactory solder for aluminium, and soldered articles are apt to break suddenly. Handles should be riveted on with aluminium rivets. Brass' handles are not satisfactory, for corrosion may start at the join. Besides this, they are apt to spoil the appearance of the article, for the colour of the brass spreads into the surrounding metal, producing a most unsightly stain, which is very difficult to remove.
