"MERRY WIDOW” ON FRIDAT Only to-day and to-morrow reman for Auckland picture-goers to visit the Strand Theatre, and “Resurrection," the marvellous photoplay from the immortal drama by Count Tolstoy, for os Friday, coming in a blaze of splendour, is “The Merry Widow.” John Gilbert plays the exceedingly eventful role of Prince D&nilo in “Th* Merry Widow,” Metro-Gold wyn-Mtyer reproducton of the famous musical comedy-drama that captivated a million hearts some time ago. This picture should be one of the really big screen events of the year, and will be shown twice daily. The original score of music will be played at the presentation by Eve Bentley's Strand Symphony Orchestra, m lovers of those haunting melodire should thoroughly enjoy the story of Sally, an obscure little dahcing gW. melting the heart of a romantic young Prince, his sadly jilting her, her dramatic n\arriage, her widowhood, her sensational stay in Paris, and all the rest of the intriguing story. A very talented cast will support Gilbert in the presentation of the “widow,” including Mae Murray u Sally O’Hara, Roy D’Arcy— that restrained and cultured player—asi the Crown Prince, George Fawcett aa Kmg Nikita, and Tully Marshall as Btroa Sodoja.
