LYRIC AND HIPPODROME
BIG PROGRAMME TO-MORROW “The Miracle of Life” is the first feature on the programme to be presented at the Lyric and Hippodrome Theatres to-morrow night. “The Miracle of Life” is a powerful problem drama from the pen of Olga Printzlau, and answers the great question, “which is stronger in the women of to-day, mother love or freedom?” This picture is recommended as being more suitable for adults. Percy Marmont, the popular British actor, heads the list of featured players, and is supported by Mae Busch and Nita Naldi. “The Warning,” starrinfl Jack Holt and Dorothy Revier, will be the second feature to be shown. “The Warning” is one of the best starring vehicles that has been offered Jack Holt for a long time, and he fills the role with eminent satisfaction and with one of his popular and satisfying characterisations. The plot being laid in the underworld dens of Hcng Kong affords plenty of opportunities for exciting action, spiced with the thrill of mystery. The particularly high quality of the photography and some excellent work from the two principals all add to the spectators’ enjoyment. A Chinese secret society which has been quietly disposing of various British secret service agents in their district is the corner stone of the story, around which is woven a train of lively events in which a virile hero and lovely heroine are mixed up. The suspense is cleverly maintained right to the end where the director has somewhat of a surprise.

There is s charming love theme between the daughter of a “scarlet” woman an I the son of a small town tyrant, which leads to a pathetic tragedy, yet through the efforts of the doctor, all ends happily.
