GILBERT ISLANDERS ENTERTAIN SEAMEN
A song and dance by Gilbert Islanders, from the Nauru Chief, now in port in Auckland, was an item of considerable interest at last night’s concert at the Mission to Seamen. There was an excellent attendance of officers, apprentices and men. The chaplain, the Rev. H. K. Vickery, presided, and welcomed the artists and visitors. The programme c was enthusiastically received, encores being numerous. Items were given by Miss Jennie Milne (pianoforte solo), Mr. W. Downie (recitations), Mr. H. Worms (comic songs), Mr. AJf. Milne (vocal solos), Joyce Phillips and Hot Ivatts (fancy dances), Mr. T. Merry (comic songs and dance), Tom Cully (wooden-horse comedian), Mr. Broadribb (mouth organ solos), Leys Institute Scout Orchestra and Mr. J. Bryce (Scottish comedian). The accompaniments were played by Mrs. Wilkinson.
