“SUN CURE NOT FAD”
£3,000 OFFERED NAPIER HOSPITAL DR. VALINTINE’S DISAPPROVAL Press Association. NAPIER, Monday, When the offer of a Hawke's Bay resident of £3,000 to convert the roof of one of the wards at the Napier Hospital into a solarium was brought to the notice of Or. Valintine, Director - General of Health, by the medical superintendent at Napier, Dr. J. Allen Berry, Dr. Valintine declined to approvt the scheme. At the board meeting to-day, Dr. Berry referred to Dr. Valintine's attitude which, he thought, might be reasonable on the ground of economy, i! there had not been an offer to provide funds required. But under the circumstances he could not understand it. “Dr. Valintine is of the opinion,'’ Dr. Berry said, “that this is an American innovation. It isn’t. The sun core is the work of great British scientist*. It is not a fad but is work carried oa on a scientific basis.” One member did not see why Dr. Yalintino should override the benevolent* of the people and the recommendation of the medical superintendent.
