“PRIVATE LIFE OF HELEN OF TROY”
AT MAJESTIC ON FRIDAY Settings beautiful in their simplicity which achieve reality by elimination rather than detail; settings absolutely original as far as the screen is concerned—these are promised in First National’s “The Private Life of Helen of Troy,” which comes to the Majestic Theatre on Friday. The film version of John Erskine’s brilliant novel of the characters of Grecian mythology, is blazing new paths in movie stories; and Carey Wilson, producer of the picture, was determined to make the sets as unusual as the story itself. A staff or artists and designers spent months in advance of the picture to prepare a background idealistic and novel enough for the highly unconventional theme and treatment of the story.
“The Private Life of Helen of Troy” features Maria Corda, Lewis Stone and Ricardo Cortez in the roles of Helen, Menelaus and Paris, respectively. Alexander Korda directed the picture from Carey Wilson’s screen version of the book.
