PAKURANGA HUNT

MEET AT BEACHLEA DOWNS One of the most enjoyable meets of the season, was held by the Pakuranga Hunt Club, on Saturday, on the property of Mr. Owen R. Self, Beachlea Downs, Papatoetoe. There was a large following of riders, and with a good variety of obstacles, a splendid day’s sport resulted. There were a few spills, but no casualties were reported. A good view of the runs was obtained by a number of spectators from the top of the hill. Hares were not over plentiful. The hounds drew for some time on Mr. Self’s property, before they raised a quarry, which led the field a merry chase through Mr. Self's farm, and circled round Mr. W. W. Massey’s property, returning to Mr. Self's and skirting the water’s edge before it was killed. The next draw resulted in putting another hare up on Mr. Self’s farm, which led the field on to Mr. W. W. Massey’s farm, then across Massey Road on to Mr. A. Kenwood’s land, through Mr. Paul’s property toward Pukaki, where the second kill of the day was registered. At the conclusion of the meet, the followers were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Owen R. Self, at their home on Beachlea Downs Estate.

Mr. H. Bullock-Webster, master of the club, thanked the host and hostess for their hospitality, and for allowing the hunt to be held on such an ideal site. Dr. Grant, deputy-master, was also present.
