Mr. H. H. Sterling, the newlyappointed general manager of the New Zealand Railways, and Mrs. Sterling, left for Wellington last evening by the Limited. Mr. J- F. Montague left by the Limited last evening for Masterton to adjudicate at the annual competitions. This is Mr. Montague’s third visit to Masterton in this capacity. Mr J. W. Hayden was re-elected chairman of the Waitemata ElectricPower Board this morning. Mr. G. Trevithick eulogised the work done by Mr. Hayden during the past year. Mrs. Sam Paul, of Westport, who has been on a health visit to Rotorua, is visiting Auckland for a few days and is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. F. Gardes at the Criterion Hotel. Mr. W. Pago Rowe, chairman of the anthropology section of the Auckland Institute, will shortly return to England. His resignation will be received at the annual meeting of that section of the institute this evening. Guests at to-day’s Rotary Club luncheon were Messrs. R. W. Wallace (Napier), J. H.
