“THE SHOW TRAIN”

RAILWAY ENTERPRISE SUGGESTION TO BUSINESSMEN The idea of a “show train" to run over all lines in the Auckland Province and bring: sellers and consumers closer together, is to be put before the Chamber of Commerce. This would be a practical demonstration of the Railway Department’s policy of “service to all sections of the community.” The department is seeking out means by which service can be given. On the train space will be available to firms which had goods to offer to people outside the city markets. It would exhibit these goods and manufactures for a tour lasting about nine days. As an illustration of the ability of the Railways Department to build rolling stock, the carriage built for the Xew Zealand tour of the Duke and Duchess of York would be attached to the train.
