TWO YEARS’ GAOL FOR ONE FARM HAND’S OFFENCE “You have very bad records. PROBATION FOR THEFT One year’s probation was given Gordon Sidney Hayward, a Whangarei farm hand, when he appeared before Mr. Justice Blair in the Supreme Court this morning, having previously admitted four charges of theft. His Honour observed that no doubt there had been a certain amount of temptation. In addition to the usual terms of probation, he directed that accused repay the cost of the stolen wire and also the costs of the prosecution.
