FIRE IN SAWMILL
TIMBER AND PLANT DESTROYED BUCKET BRIGADE SAVES MILL (From Our Oicn Correspondent) HAMILTON, To-da3'. A fire broke out at Mr. C. T. Tuck's sawmill at Newstead at 11.30 o’clock last night, and damage to the extent of over £3OO was done to the stock, buildings and machinery. About 10,000 feet of pinus insignus j and valuable planing machines and j motor engines perished in the flames. j The heavy rain favoured activities ; of a bucket brigade, which saved part ; of the mill. The land on which the j mill stands is owned by Mr. Sc' tt, of | Newstead. Nothing was insured.
