FOR COOLIDGE CLOAK
AMERICAN PRELIMINARIES HOOVER’S EXPENDITURE (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian Press Association.) Reed. 9.5 a.m. WASHINGTON. Fri. Mr. James Good, campaign director for Mr. H. C. Hoover, told the Senate Committee that the organisation accepted contributions of 49,150 dollars and spent 42,032. The largest contributor was Mr. Edsel Ford, who gave 5,000 dollars. A message from Daytona Beach says that the Florida State Republicans instructed four delegates to vote for Mr. Hoover at the National Convention. A report from Nashville says that Tennessee’s 24 delegates to the National Democratic Convention were instructed to vote for Representative Cordell Hull, the Tennesseean, “until his chances of nomination cease to be hopeful.” Mr. Hull’s victory was only won after a bitter fight with Governor A 1 Smith’s supporters, and is regarded as having little significance, since his chances of nomination are nil.
