The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. J. q Coates, and Mrs. Coates, arrived from Thames this morning and are staying at the Grand Hotel. pr. Hayes arrived by the Limited from Wellington this morning. The Rev. Mr. Hutson was a passenger for the South last evening on the Limited. The Rev. W. J. Elliott, president of the Methodist Conference, left Auckland yesterday for Port Albert. Mr. T. R. Aickin, private secretary to the Prime Minister, is staying at the Grand Hotel. Sir George Elliot returned to Auckland this morning by the Limited from Wellington. Major Robinson, of the Melanesian Mission, left for Wellington by the Limited last evening. The Hon. J. A. Young, Minister of Health, arrived in Hamilton this morning from Wellington. Messrs. F. and E. Cousins were among the arrivals from the South by this morning’s Limited. Mr. H. H. Sterling, the newly-ap-pointed General Manager of the New Zealand Railways, arrived in Hamilton from Wellington this morning. Mr. J. D. C. Hall, of Auckland, was yesterday elected unopposed president of the New Zealand Educational Institute. Mr. L. A. Roberts, of the booking staff of the Auckland railway station, who has been transferred to Taumarunui, was presented with a tea-set by the staff yesterday. Mr. A. E. Davy, Dominion organiser for the United Party, who has been selecting the candidates for his party in the Auckland Province, will return to Wellington on Tuesday. Captain L. M. Isitt, of the New Zealand Air Force, is now permanently stationed in Auckland. His appointment to the command of the Hobsonville airdrome has just been gazetted. Mr. F. D. Thomson, C.M.G., permanent head of the Prime Minister’s Department, arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning and is staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. J. D. Anderson, inspector of stock at Rotorua, who is under transfer to Te Kuiti, was presented with a rug and suitcase last night by settlers of the district. Dr. E. R. Lange, who has been resident medical practitioner on the Hauraki Plains fo.r the past two years, was presented with a well-filled wallet at Turua. recently. The Rev. W. Hardy Johnson, of Midlothian, Scotland, has accepted the living of All Saints’ Church, Dunedin, in succession to Dean Fitchett. Mr. Johnson will leave for New Zealand aext month. Duty at home and abroad, in Canada, Malta and England, has provided him with a varied career.
