TE KUITI BOWLERS
ANNUAL MEETING HELD The newly-clected president, Mr. H. Hine, presided over a largely attended annual meeting of the Te Kuiti Bowling Club on Thursday. Mr. Crawford Boles, the retiring president, stated that the past season had been a most successful one, due to ideal weather conditions, “Sidey” time, and improvements in the green. The membership stood at 64—an increase of seven over last year’s figures. The balance-sheet showed a very satisfactory state of affairs, the club now being on a sounder basis than for some years past. Several visits to adjacent clubs had been paid during the season, and members of the Otorolianga and Te Awamutu Clubs had repaid visits. The combined social committees had sue-, eessfully organised several card parties and an open-air concert and dance. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr. J. C. Rolleston, M.P.; president, Mr. H. Hine; vice-presidents, Dr. L. R. de Castro and Mr. S. J. Williams; secretary and treasurer, Mr. James Henderson; committee, Messrs. Tapp, Crickett. Broadfoot, Griffiths and Harris. The retiring president presented the following with trophies won during the season:—Singles champion, Mr. W. Smith; handicap pairs, Messrs. W. Fitzer (s) and A. C. Shearer (lead); miniature cup for previous year’s champion, Mr. J. Griffiths; junior cup. Mr. A. C. Shearer. Dr. de Castro presented a cup for next year’s singles championship, the previous trophy havi" been won outright by Mr. J. Griffiths. The secretary was complimented on his very efficient work during the year
