Riddle-me-ree: Chrysanthemum. A NOVEL GAME “You’ve all played “Ring a ring of roses,” haven’t you? Well, you’re probably far too old for that now, so I’ll tell you another game, called “Ring a ring of animals.” It’s awfully funny. And, what is more, you can play it both indoors and out of doors. All the players—but one—form a ring, holding hands. The odd player stands in the centre. He is blindfolded with a handkerchief and provided with a stick. Well, to play the game, all the players dance around him (the Pointer) and sing until he says “Stop,” and points in one direction. He will be pointing to one of the players, of course, though, being blindfolded, he won’t know which one it is. Then he says, “Make a noise like a donkey,” or a cow or a sheep, or any animal he likes. The player makes the noise, and then Pointer has to guess who he has pointed to. If he is correct, then he changes places with this particular player, who takes his or her turn in the centre of the ring. If he is wrong, then he has another chance. If he fails to guess rightly after three guesses, he has to stand out of the game, another player taking his place in the ring.
