HOMEWARD BOUND!
ourselves by the side of a huge tank which looks like a lake. Little beaches and trees are scattered about its sides, and several boats decorated with flowers are moored there. We had to get into the flower bedecked boats, and row across the lake, leaving Ramon Novarro and Renee Adoree to follow at their leisure. This gave them time for a little love scene. We were all dressed in Empire style, and Ramon was in prince’s uniform. My next “call” was for “Diamond Handcuffs,” with Eleanor Boardman and Lawrence Gray in the leading parts. There were two scenes here, one inside a New York jeweller’s shop, and the other in the street outside. 1 was picked out to do “ a little business” in the shop. I had to ask the salesman for some pearls, and examine them carefully. Then I had to decide not to buy them, and go out of the shop. Meanwhile Lawrence Gray came in, preparatory to holding up the jeweller for a magnificent diamond. Then I was picked out to stand with Eleanor Boardman gazing at the diamond in the window. All these sound such little details, and yet they all go to make a picture complete and true to life. These two scenes took the whole of one day.
