Light-Hearted‘Pompadour’

T\T ADAME POM] XTX DOUR, one of uie -™- loveliest women who ever ruled a Court of Prance, is the central figure in the latest J. C. Williamson production, which will open in An land on May 23 at His Majesty s Theatre. The settings are elaborate, as those of a French Court of the pre-revolution should be; there is delightful music, sung by excellent artists, and frocks which will bring tears of envy to the eyes of feminine Auckland. Here we have Beppie de Vries, “Madame Pompadour,” and Frank Webster, who will play the leading roles. Both have international reputations and both are newcomers to New Zealand. “Madame Pompadour” has enjoyed a wonderful popularity in Australia.
