GREAT RACE FILM Murr a ? ld T^ e ti U , Cky ’” f eat urin S James Muriay and Helene Jostello, is now being shown at the Britannia Theatre. i I£ L f} or y o£ horso-racing in the colourful Southern States of America, and concerns the Brierly family, who are upset that the son, “Major,” has brought disgrace on him. The Kentucky Derby is to be run and Brierly enters Queen Bess, risking all he has left on her. ‘‘Major ” thoroughly repentant, thinks the only money his father will accept from him is his Government insurance, so writing a farewell letter he leaves it with his policy and says good-bye to Nancy, his sweetheart, but the girl senses tragedy and begs him not to leave her. The day of the race is bright and clear. There is little betting on Queen Bess. Just before the race there is a shower, which is most lucky, for Queen Bess is a mud horse. “Major” bets all his funds. The race starts. It is almost unbelievable when “Skippy” brings Queen Bess in first. After it is over “Major'* goes home, uncertain of his reception. He drops on his knees before his father and pleads forgiveness. And of course he is welcomed. The second feature will be “The Imposter,” a thrilling story of the underworld, starring Evelyn Brent. CAPITOL DOUBLE FEATURE BILL “Silk Stockings,” starring Laura La Plante, is now being shown at the Capitol Theatre. The story concerns Sam and Molly Thornhill, who fall out, and Molly applies for a divorce. She tells a frightful tale in court and is shocked when the divorce is granted. She pines for Sam as he does for her. They both visit friends who live near each other at the beach. Judge Moore explains that she must. keep away from her husband, or the divorce will be voided automatically. So Molly plans to plant herself in Sam’s bedroom that. night. By error she gets in Bagnall’s. But after many entanglements she gets into Sam’s and when the house party guests break in she is “compromised” in Sam’s arms and the divorce is hopelessly voided. “One Woman to Another,” starring Florence Vidor, is the second attraction.
