HONESTY A NOVELTY Announcing a St. Patrick’s Day competition, the San Francisco "Chronicle” writer remarked: “The tenth annual St. Patrick’s Day golf tournament is all set. It takes place next Friday on the Olympic Club lake course. Instead of the customary medal play, the event will be a team match between the Irish and the Italians. Judge T. 1. Fitzpatrick will captain the Irish, announced Emperor Harry I. Stafford yesterday.' Only men with Irish names or brogues and the visiting Stanford University delegation will be considered Irish. All others are to be rated Italians. Charles Arata is captain of the Italians. “For a novelty this year, the prizes are to be awarded honestly. The only reservation to this rule is that J udge Fitzpatrick as captain of the Irish will officiate as handicapper. The golf tournament begins at twelve o’clock next Friday, and the dinner following will end when the police interfere. “Because St. Patrick’s Day falls on Saturday, we are holding the tournament on Friday. So the guests will enjoy fish, fowl, or beef according to their religious tastes..”
