ALCOHOL FOR PAIN
FARMER’S NOVEL PLEA HIT POLICEMAN’S CAR Press Association. BLENHEIM, Wednesday. “It strikes me as a novel plea that it is necessary-for a man to take alcohol to excess to alleviate pain,” said Mr. T. E. Maunsell, S.M., when fining Henry Michael Costello, a farmer, of Dashwood, £2O, and suspending his driving licence for three months, after he had pleaded guilty to being found in charge of a motor-car while in an intoxicated condition. Accused collided on the Seddon Bridge with another car which was occupied by a constable.
