HOSPITAL LEVY
ONE TREE HILL OBJECTS
“AMOUNT SHOULD BE FIXED” Strong exception to the amount of the hospital board levy was taken by the One Tree ' Hill Road Board last evening, when a remit assessing its contribution required this year at £3,020 Is 5d was received. The 10 per cent, sinking fund charged by the hospital board is excessive, stated Mr. R. G. Clark, who held that the buildings depreciate only slowly. The new wings should be in good order in another 60 years’ time. He considered also that a fixed amount each year should be expended in relief. “It is not righjf that local bodies should be saddled with an unknown sum every year,” he said. “It should be fixed rigidly at, say, £25,000.” The opinions of other bodies in the board’s area are to be discovered and, if necessary, a conference consisting of two delegates from each will be called.
