STRAY-DOG NUISANCE

MANY SHEEP KILLED WANGANUI “ROUND-UP” (Special to THE SUN) WANGANUI, To-day. Sheepowners near the Castlecliff golf links have suffered recently from wandering dogs. About 40 dead sheep have been found many being badly mutilated. A round-up of stray dogs was held last week by owners, and three dcgs were shot one afternoon. The rest wore driven over the cliffs on to the beach, where a further seven were killed. Most of the dogs had collars, and the owners are now being looked up. Others, ranging from pet Pomeranians to fox terriers and greyhounds, were found to be without official collars, but the sheepowners hope in the near future to be able to trace a few of their owners.
