NATIONAL AND LYRIC
NEW PROGRAMME TO-NIGHT Tingling scenes, hairbreadth escapes and a double-barrelled romance, is what one sees in “Square Crooks,” which will be shown to-night at the National and Lyric Theatres. The story has to do with the struggle of two men who are striving to turn over a new leaf after dabbling in the night life of New York. Robert Armstrong and Johnny Mack Brown are the two boys who find the road to honesty and freedom difficult. The opening of the story finds the two acting as chauffeurs for a wealthy family. After the boys are compelled to resign, they are accused of stealing a diamond necklace. Their past goes against them and the law is about to exact its toll when an unusual twist brings the climax to a startling finish. The home life of Armstrong is responsible for many humorous sequences as he tries to withhold the facts of his losing another job from his charming but somewhat fiery - tempered wife. The second feature will be “Simple Sis.” an uproarious comedy of a girl who wanted but couldn’t get a man. The stars are Louise Fazenda and Clyde Cook.
