FUSION OF BRITISH FIRMS Negotiations are proceeding for the j fusion of certain interests of Sir. W. G. ! Armstrong-Whitworth and Company I with the old-established businesses of J Craven Brothers (Manchester) and j Joshua Buckton and Company, of • Leeds, says the Bulletin of the Department of Overseas Trade. The negotiations, which, it is understood, have reached an advanced stage, are being conducted Vith the object of combining the machine tool businesses of the three companies. It will be recalled that when the armament nd naval shipbuilding interests of Armstrong-Whitworth and Vickers were transferred as from January 1 last to Vickers-Armstrong, Ltd., certain businesses were specifically excluded from the sale. These included Armstrong s machine tool business at Openshaw, Manchester, which it was announced was to be transferred to the Scotswood Works. Newcastle on Tyne. AUCTION NOTES Messrs J. H.
