NEARLY 100,000 SEE ART GALLERY

An average attendance of 267 people daily at the Art Gallery in the last 12 months is considered satisfactory by the director, Mr. John Barr. In his annual report, Mr. Barr says that during the year ended March 31 the total attendance was 97,093, in spite of the extreme weather conditions. The feature of the gallery’s ye-»r was the inauguration of loan exhibitions. Two exhibitions were held, dealing respectively with etchings and Japanese colour prints. The first one attracted 4,530 people, and th© second 5,655. As far as the committee know, this was the first occasion on which Japanese colour prints had been publicly exhibited in the Dominion.
