ORPHANAGES’ CONCERT
EPSOM AND MOUNT ALBERT The concert chamber of the Town Hall was packed to the doors last evening for the annual concert and demonstration of the combined Mount 1 Albert and Epsom Orphanages. I The standard of the vocal renderings and solo numbers was high, and the children entered into the spirit of the demonstration with every degree I of interest and enthusiasm. The first half of a long and pleasant programme was given by the Epsom 1 Home children, and the second half !by those from Mount Albert. Mrs. Everiss was responsible for the training of the Epsom children, and Mrs. Armitage for those of Mount Albert. ‘•The Chorus of Greeting” opened proceedings, and then followed a series of items that left no moment of dullness. The programme consisted of drill, part-songs, tableaux, action songs and musical numbers. There were many encores through the evenAt the close of the evening, the secretary, the Rev. S. Griffith, congratulated. the matrons and staffs and the children for the splendid work accomplished. He referred to the forthcoming retirement of Mrs. Armitage after eight years at the Mount Albert Home, and stated that she had ably and competently filled the position of matron. Her successor would be Miss Marjory Johnstone, of Canada. He also stated that the homes were now \ full, and the cost of maintenance was | heavy. He appealed for all the assistj ance that was possible to be obtained.
Xils Asther and Ann Page have been added to the east of ‘The Dancing Girl,” now in production at the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios. Other players in the new picture include Joan Crawford, Dorothy Sebastian, Johnny Ma >k Brown, and Dorothy Gumming-
