PANGALOS FOR TRIAL
FORMER GREEK DICTATOR (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian Press Association) ATHENS, Sunday. After a long-drawn-out inquiry into the charges against General Pangalos. the ex-dictator of Greece, the Parliamentary Commission has decided that he must formally stand his trial.
Having been imprisoned for 17 months, the ex-dictator of Greece, General Pangalos, on February IS, was brought before a Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry on six counts. T he s e charged him with illegally proclaiming* himself dictator on January 4, 1926: with holding an illegal election for the Presidency in April, 1926, when lie was elected as the sole candidate; and with the arrest and banishment of prominent
citizens. General Panga-
los immediately objected to the composition of the commission. He pointed out that it contained a member of the Cabinet which he had overturned, also a member who had acted as counsel for the men executed during liis dictatorship.
