DEVELOPING N.Z.
PART PLAYED BY MOTORS “What may be brought about in New Zealand by better transportation and communication during the next decade to quarter-century challenges the imagination,” declares Mr. A. E. Patterson, a business visitor from the United States. “It is safe to assume that the constructive economic changes that follow the motor age will give powerful impetus to any national programme of internal development.” Mr. Patterson is one of the officials of the Goodyear Export Company, of Akron, Ohio, and is an authority on motor transportation. He states that his company, the largest of its kind in the world, has deep-seated faith in New Zealand, as is evidenced by its increased marketing activities here. ‘The increasing use of the motor-car is rapidly opening up New Zealand,” he says, “bringing to pass improved economic conditions through better communication and profitable trade.”
