THE TRANSPORT PROBLEM
WOULD BIG BOARD SOLVE IT?
| IOES Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, U chairman of the Auckland Electric-Power Board, possess the solution of Auckland’s transport problems? While speaking before Karangahape Road businessmen to-day he quoted figures to show that no mistake had been made by the City Council when, five years ago, it handed over its electrical undertaking to the Power Board. -“The big board was the solution of the problem,” he said, “for if it had not been handed over, the troubles which are now being experienced by the council over transport would have been perpetuated in its electrical department. . . . And what is the solution of one problem can be the solution of another.” Mr. Holdsworth suggested also that the'control of hydro-electricty had outgrown the Governmental side-line stage, and should be in the hands of a board comprising two businessmen and a chairman.
