PRINCESS AND TIVOLI

“SHEPHERD OF THE HILLS” “The Shepherd of the Hills,” with Molly O’Day as “Sammy” Lane, is now being shown at the Princess and Tivoli Theatres.

Tho story is laid in the Ozark Mountains, and concerns a simple family of shepherds, who live a quiet life minding their sheep. Into the community comes David Howitt, a mysterious old man from “outside.” Pie is taken in for the night by th© Matthews, and Old Matt relates to him the story of little Pete, a semi-wild lad who stays with them, but is usually roaming the hills, with a bear, a deer and other animals he has befriended and tamed. The story is of the betrayal, years ago, of Matt’s daughter by an artist from the city. The artist is dead, and Pete is his child. David Howitt knows that this is the story of his own son and that his pride had kept th© boy from marrying the Matthews girl. As Matt has sworn to kill the artist’s father, Howitt does not confess to him. When two men, pursued by policemen after a raid on a stag party, burst into a turkI ish bath on “ladies’ [ night,” excitej ment of the wildi est order is likely to ensue. This is exactly what happened in “Ladies’ Night in a Turkish Bath,f’ the second feature on the programme. T h e leading Dorothy Mackaill players in this hilarious comedy are Dorothy Mackaill and Jack Mulhall, supported by a strong cast. t
