SAVED BY DOG’S BARK

FAMILY ASLEEP IN BLAZING HOME HOUSE A TOTAL LOSS Awakened by a dog’s persistent barking, Mr. John Williams and his family escaped in their night attire when their house at Tui Crescent, Beach Haven, was destroyed by fire between one and two o’clock on Saturday morning. Mr. Williams found the house full of smoke when he was awakened. He quickly aroused his wife and daughter. They had only time to seize a few effects, as they rushed out before the flames swept through the whole building. Beach Haven is outside the Northcote Fire Brigade’s district, and nothing could be done to save the house. The building and contents were both insured.
