ARRIVAL BY NIAGARA “BIG BILL” THOMPSON DONE “Big Bill” Thompson, of Chicago gets no support from Mr. Charles E Brown, Australian manager for th* Matson shipping line, who arrived t the Niagara from Sydney this morning. "He is done,” said Mr. Brown “People like that last only a short tim* and they do no good.” Recently the company ot which Mr Brown is manager purchased the West line of ships. He has now come t*. New Zealand to make a survey ot th* situation, as the new ships will continue to trade with New Zealand. Th* vessels are operating from the West Coast of America. Mr. Brown says that he will be surprised if the shipping trouble in Australia spreads. Eventually it may affect ail the coastal boats. No big developments are expected in the shipping trade, he says. The M«<1010, the new Matson line ship which was specially built for :he Honolulu San Francisco trade, will not come or. to New Zealand.
