DUNEDIN TENOR TO SING IN CANADA Mr Ernest McKinlay, the Dunedin tenor, is a through passenger by the Niagara for Vancouver, where he will
join the Edward Branscombe Westminster Glee Singers and tour Canada. While in Sydney Mr. McKinlay recorded eight additional Maori songs, which he says are becoming Increasingly popular on the concert platform. These items will also form a part of the tenor’s repertoire for his Canadian tour. These new records, he says, were taken by Mr. Alfred Hill, the New Zealand composer (and acting-director of the Sydney Conservatorium) to Brisbane last week, where he lectured on Maori music. On his way to Sydney recently Mr. McKinlay was a fellow-passenger with Dame Nellie Melba, who gave the .New Zealander every encouragement to continue his career as a vocalist. The night before he left Sydney Mr. McKinlay sang in “The Creation.” He also made an appearance with the Sydney Leidertafel. and his voice was heard on the air both from 2FC and 2BL,
