Lieut.-Commander C. J. M. Lang’s appointment to H.M.S. Dunedin as staff officer (operations and intelligence) to the commodore commanding the New Zealand station, and as staff officer (intelligence) at Wellington, is gazetted.

The Hon. A. D. McLeod, Minister of Lands, who has been visiting the Oroua electorate, to-day journeyed through the Manawatu electorate receiving deputations affecting local matters, as well as inspecting the McKenzie and Kopane soldier settlers.

Mr. A. Spencer, president of the Auckland Employers’ Association, has been granted five months’ leave of absence, during which time he will visit California. Mr. J. S. Dawes, vice-pre-sident, was appointed acting-president during Mr. Spencer’s absence. Dr. H. B. Ewen, at present registrar of the Wellington Hospital, has been appointed medical superintendent by the hospital board. The appointment is subject to the approval of the Health Department.
