AUTOMATIC PHONES WANTED The Northcote Ratepayers’ and Residents’ Association appointed the president, Mr. E. C. Davey, and vicepresident, Mr. R. H. Daniels. to confer with the Birkenhead ratepayers with reference to obtaining automatic telephones in the district. The opinion was expressed that a cottage hospital in the marine boroughs was unnecessary, as the present arrangements for the conveyance of patients to the Auckland Hospital were quite adequate.
