BIG NEW PROGRAMME “A Gentleman of Paris.” with Adolphe ilenjou In the title role, is the first feature to be shown at the Capitol Theatre to-night. The story Is an unusual one, and deals with the state of mind of the valet of a gay young gentleman bachelor, a man of ‘‘affairs." who discovers that his master is carrying on an affair with his wife. In extenuation, it must be said that the master. Adolphe Menjou, does not know that the lady is his valet’s bride. The valet would like to flglit a duel with the master, but as a servant he cannot challenge a man of superior social position, so he determines to quit his job. Jlenjou. as the master, is terrified at the thought of losing his plus-per-fect valet. He would be helpless without him. He tries to hold him in his employ. . ~ The second feature is Galloping Fury ” with Hoot Gibson, the ace of Western stars. The story is laid in the West and embraces all the colourful atmosphere of the cow country. Many original elements are introduced and 'the plot is built around a newly discovered beauty mud found adjacent to a volcanic spring:. RIALTO AND REGENT, EPSOM “LES MISERABLES” “Les Miserables,” the picturisation of Victor Hugo’s great story, is now being shown at the Rialto and Regent, Epsom, Theatres. The part of Valjean, the exconvict and mayor, is played bj a notable French actor, Gabriel Gabiio, who faithfully renders a difficult part. Some of the most touching and dramatic scenes in the picture are those dealing with Jean Val jean’s philanthropic efforts when he is a successful manufacturer. Employed in his factory is Fantine, a girl who has been deserted by the father of her baby, Cosette. The child is left in the care of a craven and hideous pair named Thenardier. It is learned that the child is illegitimate and the girl is discharged from the factory without the knowledge of the benevolent manufacturer, who later learns of the girl’s distress and promises to aid her and take care of her child, but only after Fantine has been reduced to frightful poverty by the crafty Thenardiers. whose heartless demands have driven her to sell even her hair and teeth to provide for the supposed illness of her little Cosette. On the same programme is being shown “Sunny Side TJp,” a comedy of stage life starring Edmund Burns and Vera Reynolds. LUNA PARK OPEN TO-NIGHT The Luna Park Amusement Area will be open again to-night and to-morrow night, and will provide the usual feast of fun and entertainment. The sideshows, amusements and entertainments are novel and amuslt*g. and anyone in search of pleasure can be assured of a happy time.
