TROTTING CONTROL

ASSOCIATION MEETING (Special to THE SUN) DUNEDIN, To-day. A meeting: of the Board of the Trotting Association was held to-day. The Ashburton Club reported that since lodging the appeal against the disqualification imposed upon him, 33. Jarden had complied with the club’s demands. The association decided to remove the disqualification and to instruct the club to collect the fine ot £ 5. On the application of J. McLennan for a re-hearing of the case where he was fined £25 for careless driving at the Easter meeting at Addington, the association decided to refer the matter back to the Metropolitan Club for rehearing. The Licensing Committee of the New Zealand Trotting Association is at present debarred from reviewing, on general grounds, licences granted, but at this morning’s meeting, the association passed a resolution recommending the conference to give the committee definite power by amending rule 218 as follows: “The Association shall appoint two of its members to act as a licensing committee, which shall, subject to the association's approval, issue licences. Such committee shall be empowered to review from time to time all licences so issued, and may, for good and sufficient reason, recommend to the association the suspension or cancellation of any licence issued.’’ The Oamaru Jockey Club reported that in connection with the charge of undue use of a whip against J. Walsh, the club, in accordance with the association’s instructions, had reheard the case. J. Walsh, the driver of Needles, was accused of interfering with John Dee. driven by O. Heed, and had been fined £lO and the positions of the first and second horses reversed. It was decided that the club's decision be varied and that the club’s placings be reversed, Needles being placed first and John Dee second. It was also decided to alter the fine of £lO on Walsh to disqualification until the end of the season. Permission was given Walsh to fulfil his second day’s engagements at bury. j
