Mr. R. D. Duxfield left for the South last evening by the Limited. Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., left for Wellington last evening by the Limited. Archdeacon Hawkins returned. to Auckland this morning after a visit to Wellington. Mr. C. J. Tunks, who lias been visiting Wellington, returned to Auckland this morning by the Limited. Archdeacon Simpkins and Mrs. Simpkins were among the passengers by the Limited from Wellington this morning. Archbishop Averill, Primate of New Zealand, and Mrs. Averill. returned from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Captain Hilton, marine superintendent of the Canadian National Railways, arrived from this morning hy the Limited. Mr. J- Culford Bell, announcer at station IYA and a teacher of elocution, will leave for Christchurch this evening to judge the elocutionary classes at the annual competitions. H. Frost and Mr. A. St. C. Belcher will attend the annual meeting of delegates to the New Zealand Rugby Union, held in Wellington to-day, as representatives of the Auckland Union. Mr. X. Massey, manager of the Takapuna Dairy Company, Devonport, leaves on Tuesday for a tour of Great Britain and Europe. The Devonport Borough Council at a meeting lasi evening granted him six months’ leave of absence and authorised the town clerk to provide him with credentials. Lieut.-Colonel G. C. E. Elliot, C.M.G., DS.O., of London, and Mrs. Elliot, who have been touring the Dominion, arrived from the South on Tuesday and are staying at the Hotel Stonehurst. Lieut.-Colonel Elliot retired from the Imperial Army in 1926 after service in Canada and Australia, where he was attached to the Ist Australian Division. He was mentioned in despatches.
