T. G. Julian returned from Wellington this morning by the Limited. Messrs. W. If. Gummer and C. R. Ford returned from Wellington this morning by the Limited. Messrs. A. G. Burt and A. Gray were among the passengers who left for the South by the Limited last evening. Mr. K. E. Champtaloup, service officer of the Auckland Automobile Association, returned to Auckland this morning from the South. Messrs. C. E. Bellringer and S. P. Spiller were among the passengers who arrived from the South this morning by the Limited. Senor Don Pedro A. Satonas de Dameto, Marques de Bellpuig, has been appointed Spanish Consul for New Zealand. Mr. F. W. Furkert, Engineer-in-Chief of the Public Works Department, has returned from a visit to Whangarei, and is staying at the Star 1-lotel. Mr. G. Williams, of England, whose yacht Surprise is at present in Wellington, will arrive in Auckland by train to-morrow morning. Bishop Molyneux, who has been attending the General Synod of the Anglican Church in Wellington, returned to Auckland this morning by the Limited. Mr. James Norrie, formerly of the Leys Institute Library, Auckland, took over his duties yesterday as the new chief librarian of the Wellington free public libraries. Captain F. A. Mclndoc, secretary of the Merchant Service Guild, is visiting Auckland to be present at the sitting of the Arbitration Court when it considers the Northern Steamship Company’s award. Mr. Justice Smith had a seat at the right hand of Mr. Justice Reed on the Supreme Court Bench in Wellington, yesterday, watching proceedings. He sentenced prisoners at 9.30 to-day. Professor J. Shelley, Canterbury College, who has been ill for some weeks, is reported to be progressing favourably. but will be confined to his bed for some time yet. Mr. A. E. Davy, Dominion organiser for the United Party, is at present making a business tour of the Auckland Province, and is expected to return to Wellington toward the end of the week.
