(From. Our Resident Reporter.) WELLINGTON, To-day. gPEAKING on the question of sermons for lay readers, Archdeacon Meredith, at the General Synod, mentioned that a volume of sermons had been prepared after the last General Synod. “These sermons,” said Archdeacon Meredith, amid laughter, “took only six minutes to read. The lay readers did not like them. I do not know what the congregation thought.” A committee was set up to compile volumes for the use of lay readers.
