Mr. Grierson is a nature at Lancashire and came out to- 3 Tew Zealand as a young man. For a number of years he was engaged in fanning In the Waikato. but r folio-wing an accident returned to the Old Country for two years. Returning to Auckland he was employed for a time by some of the leading mercantile houses until he entered the employ of the Auckland Co-op. Terminating Building Society as secretary oner quarter of a century ago. At that time it had only two issues of shares running. To-day over 60 issues are subscribed for. and the society's, connection is increasing rapidly . In his younger days Mr. Grierson was a representative football and cricket player of no mean merit. Latterly he has transferred his attention to- chess, at which game he has been twice 3:' ew Zealand champion. in addition to holding' the Auckland title at least ten times .
