CHANGE OF NAME
A WISE move on the part of A*- the Board of Trotting Control in New Zealand has been the refusal to register names for horses that in any way may be confusing with others already named. Until recently there were racing Dillon Huon and Huon Dillon, but the latter has been re-christened Katoomba. The public will appreciate the action of the authorities in its desire to alleviate the similarity of nomenclatute nuisance. Discussing this question with some Te Aroha trotting enthusiasts last weekend, one wag mentioned that the local pacer. Willie Mac, who has an unenviable record for refusing to leave the post, would shortly have his name changed, not because of any clash with others registered, but on account of his peculiarities. On being asked what Willie Mac’s new name was likely to be, the Te Aroha man replied, ‘‘Will ’e Start.”
