SHOOTING SEASON

SFORTSMEN LEAVE AUCKLAND GOOD BAGS AT LAKE WAAHI Many sportsmen left Auckland yesterday for the purpose of taking up their stands for the opening of the shooting season to-day, and although many bags are not yet reported good shooting was to be had throughout the Waikato district and around Rangiriri and Mercer. A message from Huntly says that the gale drove the birds into the lagoons and estLiaries for shelter. Conditions were favourable for good bags and several parties report excellent shooting. Lake Waahi afforded good sport and Messrs. Payze, Littleproud, Leather, Bozzad, F. Mason, J. "Wallace, Foster, Ralph and parties, were amongst the successful sportsmen out this morning.
